Sundown Team Challenge

Took a bus to Loyang Avenue and hitch a ride from Lala.
Thanks, mate!

Meet up with the other SGRunners at the SGRunners booth and wishes everyone all the best for their runs.

As I lose all my team members before the run, I started to walk to the Start Point with CFred, Ripley and BoSe.
The race was flagged off at exactly 8.25pm.

Start off the run at a good pace. The weather was humid and I started to perspire just after 1km.

Suddenly I dun hate running that much anymore. Maybe Bintan Triathlon has changed my perception. Knowing that your family supports you silently and seeing them really support you at the race does makes a lot of difference.
Now I know that my family really wishes me well for all my races.
I guess this will be the motivating factor for my future races.
Full marathon seems like a possibility now. :p

2km later, I am still feeling great.
Did not want to look at the watch, but an uncle ask for duration and distance covered, so I have to help out.
2km covered in 13 mins. Hmm... not a bad pace at all. Hope I can sustain this for the rest of the race. If not, the next target is not to walk during the race.

3km, and I am starting to wonder how far I am from the U-turn point. I do feel myself slowing down, but it is still much better than Bintan Tri where I walked most of the way.
Let's hope this weekend warrior does not suffer. :p

4km , water point. Just plain water, but I took 2 cups nonetheless.
Soon after , I spotted a number of SGRunners Ultra-marathoners taking their 1-min walk break.

It was during this walk break that I spotted my team member, Aerosolcan. He is walking with Kk.

After wishing the Ultra-marathoners all the best for their races, Aerosolcan and I continue to run our race together.
Tried to persuade Aerosolcan to go ahead, but he is sticking with me for good.
Thanks, mate. Really appreciate it.

Crossed the 5km u-turn point and have to shout after an uncle who is doing the Ultra-marathon but have turned left with us.
Luckily he finally realised his mistake and turn back to run towards East Coast Park.

The route is getting narrower with hardly enough space for 2 runners to run abreast each other.
I started to run behind Aerosolcan, so that other runners can overtake us.

Hmm... the weather feels better now. It does not feel so humid at all.
Aerosolcan and I keep looking out on the opposite route to try to spot Lala and Linla.
Suddenly someone beside me say "Dun need to look anymore, we are just beside you".
Haha, the couple has caught up with us and surpassing us with ease.
Lala left a departing note "See you at the Finish Line".

With 3km left, Aerosolcan ask if I wanna go slightly faster.
I tried to do so, but I got more tired after a while.

Running into Changi Beach, it was getting pretty interesting.
First, a visually-impaired runner with a helper runner overtook us.
Then the campers came out to support us. It was really wonderful to have such support.

With about 50m from the Finish line, I decided to go for it and dash to the Finish with lots of energy left.

Completed 10.7km in 1 hour 21 minutes.
A tad disappointed as it is not a personal best timing for 10km for me.

I guess I am capable of a faster pace for my runs, but I think I am too prudent.
Maybe the confidence is not there....

Went to collect my Finisher Tee and was told that all other sizes are not available.
The only size left is M size.
Was asked to leave our Team number and they will mailed it to us.
Let's hope that Adidas keep their word.
This race is gonna to be a very expensive race.
First , they took away the Powerbar Visor.
Then they took away the Powerbar Gel.
Now most of us are left without a Finisher Tee.
All I have left is a super tight translucent singlet and a Finisher medal for souvenir.

Went to grab Sports Jellybean and collect my City Duathlon before making my way back home.

Reached home to discover that Shannon is waiting for Daddy to put her to sleep.
Quickly had my bath and put Shannon to sleep before I start to update my blog.
Now I better catch some sleep so that Daddy can accompany Shannon for her race tomorrow.
