Nike Warehouse Sales

Am not a great fan of Nike.
Not since my few pairs of Nike shoes' soles always dis-integrate before its shelf life ended.
That is why I never went to a Nike Sales before.

I have stuck with Asics running shoes since my army days and have not switch allegiance since.

Had intended to get a new pair of running shoes for a while, but never got round to doing it.
Mainly, it is due to the fact that I am still looking for Asics Kayano 14 to come out, that is if it ever makes its appearance.
Although Asics Kayanos are expensive, I love it cos it is the only pair of shoes which provide me total comfort during my runs.

After seeing Jancy's posting about Nike wareshouse sales on the forum, I am not convinced.
It is only after Seah and I got an SMS each from her that I decided that I should give the sales a try.
Went there and it is not really packed. Guess it is already the fourth day and the really good deals have been taken up during the first 3 days?

Started in the wrong section, the women's shoes... No wonder nothing looks appealing to me. :p

Went on to the men's shoes section.
This pair of Nike Free shoes caught my attention immediately.
Strange, it must be the first generation Nike Free, cos there wasn't any indication of the level of barefooted-ness that current models have.
Too bad, it does not have my size.
Maybe it is a good thing too, 'cos at $79, it is not really that attractive.
Cos I have seen a pair of Nike 7.0 which is going for $90++, except that it has only size 12.

The next thing that caught my attention was the Bowerman series Nike Vomero.
Its design was not fantastic, but Bowerman series rings a pretty loud bell.
Without internet access to check online if it is suitable for me (an over-pronator), I know I am taking a risk. Asking the staff there din help a bit, cos they dun even know what is the difference between stability and cushioning. ((Was really fortunate that when I check out at home later, this pair of shoes supports mild over-pronator. :) ))
But I still decided to get one. At $79, it is a real bargain.
There goes my theory of not getting Nike shoes cos of its sole.
Guess joining SGRunners allow me to change my mindset pretty quickly, cos I know I should be able to put enough mileage into the shoes to make my purchase worthwhile.

Always one to get tempted by freebies (they have another promotion, which give $10 off for every $100 purchase), I moved onto the men's wear section. After digging through the piles of bermudas , shorts, singlets and Tees, I am unable to find any good bargains.
$29 for a singlet... Hehe, I could get one at races for much less.

Move back to the shoes.
Ahh, how about getting a pair of Air Max 180 Nike +?
Hehe, finally I can put my Nike+ sensor in a pair of Nike+ soles.
Too bad, 10.5 does not suits me well. Other sizes available are only 8 and 12.

Nike Shox OGE was next. This shoes looks more like a fashion statement than a pair of gym shoes.
I do not have any gym memberships, but this pair of shoes looks great for outings.
Tried a size 10.5 and a size 11. Settled for the size 10.5.

Strange thing is how Nike determine sizes for their running shoes.
Size 10.5 for Nike Zoom Vomero and Air Max 180 do not fit me at all, but Nike Shox OGE does?

After staying away from Nike shoes for such a long time, I finally bought not one pair, but 2 pairs of Nike shoes.

Really tough on the pockets. I have spent too much on sports gears and apparels this year...

hmmm, my advice is if you can sell the 2 pairs of nikes away, it would be best to do so. The Vomeros and Shox are designed for under pronators to neutral gait runners esp the Vomeros. Even as a neutral gait runner, its only suitable for runners with very good running biomechanics as there's far too much cushioning, making it pretty unstable if your running form is not good. Since you are using the Kayanos, a Nike Structured TriaX would be more suitable for over-pronators.

Hmm, a bit vain but I dun intend to use the Shox for running. Just for walking.

As for the Vomeros, isn't there a chance that it will helps in my running with it full sole cushioning?

nope, i seriously wont advise any over-pronators to use the Vomeros at all. Even for myself, I only over-pronate slightly on my left feet, I would only use my Vomeros for anything btw 8 to 10km, nothing more. In fact, compared to my Air Max 180, the Vomeros made my over-pronation a lot more obvious.
