Finally managed to have a training run.
8km @ 9min/km pace.
Have not been running for a while, so I am not disappointed with the pace.
Am excited that I will be going for my pet race soon.
Am grateful to my family for their support. Without them, I will not have a chance to race.
Haha, I was hoping to miss this run, so that I can see how I crash and burn during a triathlon without training. =p
Went on the usual Yishun Ring Road loop.
Along the route, got distracted by the Chong Pang Gardens running track, so I decided to give it a try.
Hmm... pretty much like a stadium track. In fact the distance per lap is 400m!
Did a lap and decided that I do not really like it.
There are too many kids cycling on the same track.
Was about to give up when I saw a gal running at my comfy pace and decided to tag along.
Alas, she stopped after a lap.
Did another lap alone when a tall chap comes along.
Hehe, this guy is fun.
His pace is good, but he cannot sustain it for the full 400m and have to walk at times.
So I am back to my favourite running game of interval overtaking.
Make it a point on completing the lap before him.
After 4 laps, he senses what I am up to and deliberately start walking during the last 50m for the next 2 laps so that I can finish ahead. Keke, thanks mate.
Unfortunately, as for most male runners running on tracks, he stopped after 6 laps.
(I am guilty of that myself. Dumb logic : No point training beyond 2.4km when IPPT only requires you to run 2.4km. =p )
Searched for my next prey.
The uncles and aunties that come along were too fast for my liking and after a few more laps, I decided to call it a day.
Interesting note : ALL the runners I saw today are doing the midfoot strike. What happened to the 80% of heel strikers?
Having not perspire for quite a while, it is nice to let it all out.
The vest is soaked, but the spirits are high.
