Discovery Run

My bad.... Had a quarrel to get my run...
Sorry, dear.

Have been watching quite a bit of YouTube recently...
To learn the fine art of running.
Snippets of information can be glean from the Chi Running website.
Collectively, there is a whole lot of information to digest.

Barefoot Running, Chi Running, POSE....
Ahh....so much knowledge involved for such a simple thing.
Running should be natural but is its always efficient?

Combining all that I have read and watch from BR CR POSE, it does make sense that heel striking is bad for your knees. So mission objectives for this run is to eliminate this problem.

First 2 km felt fun.
By leaning forward, you truly reduce the impact on the knees while running.
It is not as tiring as running forefoot and definitely more efficient as compared to heel striking.

Clearing water puddles is easy, just lean forward more.
Why? Cos your strides automatically lengthen.

Running form running form...
Once you are used to heel striking, it is definitely not easy to switch to midfoot running.
You have to remember to lean, remember to keep your feet pointing forward, ensure that you are landing midfoot (else have to check which part of the running stance is wrong) and more importantly pull back those arms...

I am having so much fun that I did not even wanna stop at traffic lights.
Yes, it is that fun...

Alas, all good things have to come to an end.
After I pause my run to check on my pace, I realised that I forgot to press the Start button at the beginning of my run. What a bummer...
Mentally it has affected me, as I could not concentrate on my running style anymore. Sianz....

Oh well, just have to practice till it comes naturally to you.

I even take the fun to my walk.
Have you ever see people walk mid-foot?
Well, it can be done. =)
Looks un-natural but it really takes the strain off your knees.

Spend a lot of my walking time observing other runners.
50% mid foot, 50% heel strike.

Most heel strikers tends to be heavy runners.
Notice that there are a lot of vibration during heel strike running.
Oh boy, the knees are taking all this punishment?

Right now, my calves are hurting.
Hope that means that I am doing things right. =)

Hehe, Jodan's most hated discipline may become his forte...

I over-pronate as well.
When I run yesterday, I am landing on the outer soles of my feet.
I do not think that can be corrected.
But as long as I land on the front part of my feet rather than the heel, it really helps.
You gotta try it.
