Having not train for this race, I know I am in for a tough day.
Plus the fact that I am recovering from a bout of flu makes the whole thing worse.
As usual, the swim was horrendous. We were constantly fighting the currents.
But what I was not prepared for was the swim time.
55mins! That is my 1.9km swim timing.
I become realistic with myself.
Either the non-training is affecting the timing or the flu recovery is.
My ride feels normal but I am noticing that I am being overtaken more than I overtook cyclists.
Given that the ride distance is only 36km and I took 1:26h, it is a 25kmh.
Probably my worst ever recorded 40km split timing.
Onto the run, I could hardly run.
This is definitely due to the fact that I din train.
After 2 km, I noticed that I was not perspiring!
Alarm bells start ringing.
I started consuming more water than I should and ended up with hyponatraemia.
My hands and feet are swollen. Definitely not something that I have encountered during a 10km run!
Still I was not perspiring.
Reality check. 1:40h is impossible now.
Reality? 2:05h.
Feeling? Total loss of interest in exercise. :(
